Community Resources, Sharing and Mutual Benefit, the Next Decade for the Enterprise Transformation of Can Culture Art and Nature

Established in 2015, Can Culture Art and Nature is a non-profit community organization that carries out events of different scales for sharing and mutual benefit, including accompanying children and teens in the community and operating art and cultural space in the community. However, as we engaged more with the community, we began to see that the existing organization is not sound enough, which cannot fully help us realizing our ideals. Therefore, we attempted to carry out enterprise transformation, shaping our profile as a social enterprise.

First, we began with Can Magazine. Through the compilation of resources in the community to aspects of promotion, design, and marketing, we started to develop the cultural creativity business with an in-depth cultural base, allowing Can to become more than an NPO, but a strong and robust social enterprise.

The next goal for our practices is to create the mutual benefit cycle in the community, providing the concept of co-existence, sharing, and mutual benefit for the community to perform the sustainable operation. Therefore, we founded the business system of Grass Book House, Grass Function School, and Hidekawa Soybean Products with different objectives. Grass Book House is the department to take care of high-risk children in our community; Grass Function School is responsible for matching our children and functions, cultivating talents who stay in Sanxia; Hidekawa Soybean Products is the store for good food in the community, offering second career and employment opportunities for high-risk teenagers; and Can Culture Art and Nature integrates community resources to facilitate the operation of the entire system.

Therefore, the integration of all business system means even more to us. We need to help the community to establish a complete circulatory system for Sanxia to become a sustainable community. During the course of such practices, we are further required to gather stronger forces and optimize the organization. As such, we welcomed the transformation again. We began to focus on establishing a more complete organization, company constitution, and system, to bring Can Culture Art and Nature into the next stage. Can Culture Art and Nature has experiences serval times of enterprise transformations. For each of the transformation, we are required to unite more energy, to help us get through all the difficulties. However, we are deeply aware of the fact that we have always been on the right path, and each transformation will bring us closer to the ideal that we want to realize!
