The River Clean-up Operation initiated by the THE CAN has a history for almost a decade; more than 100 sessions for river clean-up have been held, which called upon more than 3,000 people to jointly participated. In the course of river clean-up, plastic wastes have accounted for up to 80% thereof. Even if the river clean-up has been continuously held, it is still common to see citizens holding plastic bags on the street; there is still a lot of plastic wastes on the river banks and the street side. Therefore, we decided to trace back to the origin of the problem. To deal with the flood of plastic bag wastes, we shall start from "plastic waste reduction," to end the current throw-fetch condition.

During summer in 2019, local brand “Can Sanxia” under THE CAN initiated the project "913 Circular Sharing Bag," infusing the concept of the circular economy into the traditional model of used clothes recycling. It transformed the used clothes collected from families into shopping bags, which not only reduced the space used for placing used clothes in for families but also increased their added value, allowing resources to be fully utilized.

Mutual benefits for the community involve the participation of mothers from local communities.

Mothers from local communities will also join the production and subsequent management of our bags to increase local chances for the second career, improve residence participation, and build community awareness.

Local stores in Sanxia that participated in the project will become environmentally friendly stores.
