"In my childhood, my father took me to ride bicycles at a piece of green rice field, which is now the NTPU Community; my mother would pick me up after school, and we often stood on the Sanxia Arch and looked to the direction of Chang Fu Bridge, to see the sunset on the Sanxia River, which was a piece of happy memory." The owner sheds a smile as warm as the sun and allows us to experience in the "old-time Sanxia."

 


As compared to the busy streets and market in the morning, the small town has fallen asleep at night. The yellow light sprinkled on the street, and the place the emits such warmth is “Den Oden,” which we called it the late-night eatery. We just settled down, the owner and his partner already served a warm bowl of soup ardently and said: “please have some soup, and take your time to check out the menu!”



The stall locates on the street, only with several sets of tables and chairs, plus the bar section. During the dining hours, the place would be packed in no time. People talk about their daily lives, order a plate of oden, and drink up several bowls of soup. "I tested for a long time to make the soup! I tried different formulas and time of boiling, and the rendition now takes up three hours of boiling!"


 

“I like to eat oden, which is why I sell oden. As a child, when I passed by convenience stores and felt hungry, I would scream to my mother and asking for a hot dog. However, when my mother came out of the convenient store, she passed me two sticks of oden, and told me that I could have two different flavors when spending the same amount of money, which is better. So, I had a bite, and it was good!”



The owner’s mother was where his passion for oden began. After his mother passed away due to illness, he finally figured that the taste in his memory was so valuable. Therefore, he decided to start the business in his 25, and also to transform the missing toward his mother into daily companionships and spread such warmth to more people. “So far, I still eat oden every single day! I really love it!” A warm smile spread on the owner’s face.


 

"I like the place where I grew up; therefore, I am not going anywhere but Sanxia. I will spend time with my family and do what I like to do. Sanxia is the only place that I want to stay."



Do what he likes to do, choose the work that he wants, and stay in his hometown Sanxia where he likes. The 27-year-old owner YU-XIANG decided to start his work in Sanxia to accompany travelers or neighbors in Sanxia. He always grins and tells people how he loves the happiness that the town offers, and the Sanxia in his childhood, as well as the transformation now. He is genuinely in love with the people, affairs, and things in Sanxia, as well as all the beautiful pieces of memories.
